Artist Research: Maggie West

Maggie West is an artist that is known for her colour photo and video art installations. She explores the themes of identity, gender and social justice where she tends to use a female subject and aims to represent repressed and unrepresented voices. West wants to open converasations around controversial topics such as reproductive rights, sexual health and personal anatomy.

Having just taken portraits to practise photography, I am wanting to develop these images further. I really like Maggie West's colour manipulation and how her work accentuates the natural features and structures of the woman in the photo, and how it creates depth and shadows. I am going to use photoshop in order to create a similar outcome inspired by Maggie Smith.
