Artist Research: Guerrilla Girls
The Guerilla Girls are an anonymous grroup of feminist, female artists that fight sexism and feminism within the art world.
Their work is done in forms of posters, books, billboards, lectures, interview, public appeaarances and internet interventions.
I have always been influenced by the Guerilla Girls, for a number of reasons. I like the fact that they have a strong message behind their art work and despite their mass popularity have remained anonymous to avoid taking away from the meaning. I also like their outcomes, the simple yet effective style of work they create.
The reason I have chosen the Guerilla Girls for this project is due to the apparent link between my work and theirs. Their use of text is the biggest aspect of their work, and the fact I am also using text is why I thought they would be the perfect group to look at.
